"I get it — Noel bangs on about it as well: 'I'm more important than you because I write my fucking songs'"

Blur bloke Damon Albarn recently found himself backpedalling after claiming that Taylor Swift doesn't write her own songs, because co-writing "doesn't count." Now, Oasis lad Liam Gallagher has stepped in to reignite his old rivalry with Albarn and take Swift's side.

Speaking with NME, Gallagher said, "All them fucking Gorillaz albums are co-writes, aren't they? I get it — Noel bangs on about it as well: 'I'm more important than you because I write my fucking songs.'"

He continued, "Well, [Albarn] won't be saying that again in a hurry, though, will he? Did he not get ran out of fucking town by the Swifties? I think [Taylor's] fucking cool, man. She does write her songs and I'm sure she's co-wrote with people."

Gallagher's forthcoming album C'MON YOU KNOW features a number of co-writers, including a collaboration with Dave Grohl on the new single "Everything's Electric." It's out May 27.

Albarn's recent album The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows came out in November. Nine of its 11 songs are co-writes.
