Liam Gallagher Ditches Oasis 2.0 Moniker: "That Was a Shit Name Anyway"

The disintegration of Brit pop icons Oasis has been a fun one to watch. When Noel Gallagher first left the band, his brother Liam said they'd continue making music without him. He rubbed salt into Noel's wounded ego even further when he announced that they'd be taking the name Oasis 2.0.

Obviously, that's a terrible name for a band, but it would have been so deliciously spiteful. Regardless, Liam has now announced that the band will not be using the name Oasis at all. In a recent interview with XFM, he revealed that they'd changed their minds about the name. "No, it's not Oasis, that was a shit name anyway," he said. "I'm glad to see the back of it."

As to what the project will be called, Liam is keeping mum. "There's a name that we're digging at the moment, but we're going to get on with the music and see how it goes." We're guessing it's taking every ounce of his self-control to not call the band No Noels Allowed.

In December, Liam revealed that the unnamed band were far along in the recording process of their album, suggesting that it will likely be out in July.
