Leonard Cohen Gets A.C. Newman, Bradford Cox, Cults for Covers Project

Leonard Cohen's hotly anticipated Old Ideas arrived this week, but that's not the only exciting new release coming from the singer's camp. His label, Columbia Records, has curated a video series, called Old Ideas with New Friends, that finds contemporary artists covering their favourite Cohen songs.

So far, three covers have been unveiled: Cults performing "Everybody Knows" (which they recently played live), Cold War Kids" doing "There Is a War" and Afghan Whigs/Twilight Singers songwriter Greg Dulli taking on "Paper Thin Hotel."

It's not clear exactly how many instalments there will be, but future covers will be performed by Deerhunter/Atlas Sound leader Bradford Cox, New Pornographers mastermind A.C. Newman and Rhett Miller of Old 97's.

Keep checking back to the project's Vimeo account for more songs. All those revealed so far are below.
