Modern soul man Leon Bridges made a splash with this year's Coming Home album, and now a few of his vintage-flavoured soul tunes have gotten the remix treatment on a seven-track mixtape called Coming Home to Texas.
These remixes act as a very modern-sounding update on Bridges' retro soul sound, as the live instrumentation is replaced by beats and samples from a variety of producers. There's even guest appearances from Texas rap heroes Bun B and Slim Thug. And yet, despite the electronic hip-hop flavour, Bridges' classic R&B sound still shines through in his vocals. The EP is co-credited to Brooklyn DJ MICK.
