Lemonheads Announce 'Hotel Sessions'

It's been a busy year for Lemonheads leader Evan Dando. But while the guy has been busy playing greatest-hits gigs with Juliana Hatfield and It's a Shame About Ray on Lemonheads' current tour, fans may have noticed there's been a dearth of new ditties of late. That's all about to change, though, as Dando has just announced Lemonheads' next album, Hotel Sessions.

The first album of new material since 2006's self-titled LP (2009's Varshons was an all-covers affair), Hotel Sessions is described in a press release as "an intimate recording documenting a Sunday night that Evan Dando spent recording new songs with just an acoustic guitar (and some revealing commentary) in a hotel room in Bondi Beach, Australia."

While a tracklisting has not yet been made available, the album supposedly features 14 tunes, including "some that never made it to an official Lemonheads album." The session also finds a couple revamped favourites, with Dando explaining: "the 'Into Your Arms' I did here is better than the one on the album (I like it anyway)."

Hotel Sessions comes out February 7 via Hall of Records/Breath of Saltwater.

Lemonheads are currently out on the road, with a Canadian show lined up at Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret on November 4. They've also just extended their touring plans with a U.S. tour throughout January and February. You can check those new U.S. dates here.
