The Lemming Ways

'The Lemming Ways' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 23, 2015

Montreal photographer Marc Mongrain has been creating music under the moniker the Lemming Ways since 2008, and he's ready to unveil his latest, self-titled LP next week. For those eager to hear it early, though, Exclaim! has got you covered with an advanced stream of the record.

Combining "melancholic and intense melodies, reminiscent of his British cousins" with his own experimental tendencies, Mongrain delivers a unique sound that effortlessly flows between indie rock and electro-pop.

The album opens on upbeat synth-pop number "Monster," but morphs along the way into tracks like jangly indie-pop cut "Fooled" and softer, piano-driven piece "The King."

The Lemming Ways follows up his The Beautiful Design and Two Poles EPs, and sees him rekindling his creative partnership with producer Étienne Dupuis-Cloutier (Fanny Bloom, Coeur de Pirate). Mongrain also recruited Gabriel Lemieux-Maille for the drums and Marco Gosselin for bass and additional vocals.

The final product arrives on March 3 via Music Mansion Records, but you can listen to The Lemming Ways in its entirety right now, in the player below. You can pre-order it here.
