Leeroy Stagger has more than a decade's worth of prolific output behind him, and he's still going strong. The Alberta songwriter will release his album Dream It All Away on May 12 through Rebeltone, and it's available to stream now on Exclaim!
The album was produced by Russell Broom (Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Chixdiggit), with sessions taking place in Calgary and Lethbridge. Stagger is backed by drummer Pat Seward (Bryan Adams, Odds) and bassist Mike Lent (k.d. lang, Jann Arden).
"Something Beautiful" opens the album with an atmospheric soundscape of pretty noodling, but this turns into a raw, tuneful rocker at the 26-second mark. From there, Stagger and his band hit the ground running: "One Perfect Wave" is a muscular acoustic rock cut, "Living in America" has a country flavour, "New Music Biz Blues" is a twangy blues hoedown, and other songs find a middle ground between gruff rock and rustic balladry.
