Ledenhed

Central Nervous System

BY Matt MernaghPublished Feb 1, 2000

In creating his debut album with producer Mark Pistel (Meat Beat Manifesto, Consolidated), Ledenhed tosses in hip-hop, heavy guitar riffage, beat boxes and hopes that it all works out in the end. At times Central Nervous System is cooking — the prime rib examples are "Super Myth (Bass Kittens Remix)" and Pistel's reworking of "Didn't." Both songs explore a wider musical range and are more daring than the originals, which should have been replaced by these two mixes. By studying at the school of Beck, Ledenhed has garnished the album somewhat in the master's style. This dish won't become a favourite meal, but the seconds will still taste good in the morning.
