Leaves' Eyes

Lovelorn

She released a pop record and was ousted from Theatre of Tragedy, but Liv Kristine Espenaes Krull hasn’t abandoned the metal scene. After providing the female vocals for husband Alex Krull’s band, Atrocity, Liv Kristine turned the tables and has all five members of Atrocity backing her in her new band Leaves’ Eyes. As you might expect from its title, Lovelorn is full of melancholy romanticisms and sweet reflections. But a couple of songs in, the album begins to take a more aggressive turn, with Krull’s evil growls joining the ranks of a driving rhythm section and the more soothing strings. The weight of beauty to beast remains relatively even for most of Lovelorn though, that is until the deliciously sinister "Temptation” tips the scales. The story has it that Liv Kristine finished recording her parts for Lovelorn mere hours before giving birth to her new son; the close call had no adverse affects on her performance, which is as stunning as usual and encompasses the wide spectrum of her talents.
