LCD Soundsystem Aiming to Release New Album in March 2010, Lining Up New Single and Tour

Remember the good old days when artists would make announcements through press releases or online mailing lists? Well, those were simpler times.

Release details about LCD Soundsystem's new album have come via the crazy newfangled technology that is Facebook. In a post made on LCD Soundsystem's Facebook fan page, bandleader James Murphy revealed that the group's new album, which they have been recording in L.A., is tentatively scheduled for release in March 2010. As fans know, it will be the group's first studio full-length since 2007's critical smash hit Sound of Silver.

Writing from the studio, Murphy fielded fan questions about the album, revealing that a new single will likely be released before the end of the year. Although free downloads of the as-yet-untitled single will be available, he encouraged fans to purchase the vinyl, since "we worked really hard on the art and the mastering, and we're proud of it."

Murphy also revealed that LCD Soundsystem will be touring after the album is released. The tour will take the band to "places we've been a bunch (hello, dearest Glasgow!) and hopefully places we've never been (Mexico? Serbia? China?)."
