Published Mar 16, 2011Band's being targeted for theft is nothing new, but it sounds as if it's becoming a bit of an epidemic. Last week, we reported that Vancouver, BC popsters Said the Whale had their trailer broken into during a stop in California, resulting in the loss of instruments and personal belongings. Following that, we reported on the burglary that took place at Saint Alvia's practice space, but that turned out to have a happy ending, as the robber was apprehended shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, Wisconsin metalheads Lazarus A.D. are the most recent act to have their van broken into, and chances are pretty slim they're getting their stuff back.
A press release explains that the group, currently on a UK tour with Bonded By Blood, were inside a Southampton venue when robbers broke into their vehicle. Smashing a window to enter the van, the thieves ended up nicking Social Security cards, birth certificates, personal belongings and roughly $1,500 in cash. Fortunately, the band had all of their equipment, not to mention their passports, with them.
"We just want to personally say thank you, to the fuck douche bags who smashed our vans window and stole $1,500 and all our clothes and other personal items. All I can say is thank god we had the gear on stage or the fuckers would have stolen that as well," Lazarus A.D. said in a statement.
The group are continuing on with the trip, but are facing a lack of funds to do so. A PayPal account has been set up for any fans to donate a bit of cash so Lazarus A.D. can keep the show on the road. You can offer up a bit of charity here.
