Published Feb 22, 2013Lawnya Vawnya is becoming an annual tradition in St. John's, NL, since 2013 will mark the festival's third instalment. The event takes place from April 17 to 21, and the organizers have now announced some of the acts who will be performing over the four days.
Among the artists on the bill for this celebration of indie music and DIY culture are Kid Koala (performing a DJ set), Obits, Bry Webb of Constantines, Shotgun Jimmie, Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby, Slim Twig, U.S. Girls, two separate One Hundred Dollars spin-offs (Fiver and the Highest Order), Cousins, Paper Beats Scissors, Man Forever (led by Oneida drummer John Colpitts), Lisa Bozikovic, and more.
Interestingly, the bill will feature additional musical performances through something called "Phone-It-In," which a press release describes as "a bank of phones where festival alumni will call in to perform short sets over the telephone throughout the weekend."
Along with music, the festival will offer a discussion with songwriter Jeffrey Lewis about his work in comics, a record and small press fair, and various workshops and seminars.
