Lauryn Hill

Live in Brooklyn

The announcement that Lauryn Hill was heading out on the road had us wondering if the notoriously reclusive R&B singer could still hit it like she could back in her '90s heyday. Thankfully, footage from last night's (December 28) performance at Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg put any doubts to rest. The former Fugees member straight up killed it.

Rap-Up reports that the singer covered different eras of her back catalogue, from Fugees numbers "Fu-Gee-La" and "Killing Me Softly with His Song" to solo hits "Ex Factor" and "Doo Wop (That Thing)," with a massive backup band striking it up behind her. Dressed in a billowing muumuu, the sultry, smoky-voiced Hill even knocked out a cover of the Flamingos' doo-wop classic "I Only Have Eyes for You" before injecting it with a little hip-hop soul.

While she may have been on her A game musically, Hill apparently didn't deliver the goods on time. While the concert was supposed to start at 8 p.m., the singer strolled onstage sometime around midnight. So beware ticketholders: you might have some time to kill when you get to your respective venues.
