Chris Panacci's Laughed the Boy project treated us to "Ice Cream" last spring, and now he's set to serve up a full-length album with the band next week.
The nine-song record is packed with nostalgic nods to '90s rock, jangly guitar hooks and breezy vocal harmonies that swirl together in an infectious blend of loose, pop-leaning slacker rock.
"I feel this album is a lot more personal than work I've done in the past. Being 25 is a weird age where you really have to start figuring yourself out and most of the songs deal with that," Panacci tells Exclaim! "There's a pretty consistent feeling of being happy and slightly naive with that sense of nervousness and uncertainty lurking in the background. The songs were mostly picked out of a collection I wrote over a period of time when I was unemployed, which for me was a time of reflection where I put most of my time into writing and recording ideas all day."
You can hear that self-reflection get channelled into the new tunes by giving Here Is Fine a spin below. The album is officially out on February 10.
