A new search warrant has been served in connection with the 1996 murder of rap icon Tupac Shakur.

As CBS News reports, Monday (July 17) saw the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) search a home in Henderson, NV, in connection with the unsolved investigation into the fatal drive-by shooting involving the artist.

"LVMPD can confirm a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation," Las Vegas police said in a statement [via CBS News]. "We will have no further comment at this time."

Shakur was fatally shot on September 7, 1996, in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, and would pass away from his wounds six days later. He was 25.

No arrests have ever been made in the investigation into the artist's murder, which has been ongoing for nearly three decades.

In 2017, Shakur was posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and in June of this year, he was honoured with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
