"Wonderkind" (video)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 5, 2013

Since the 2009 release of Where Were You in the Wild?, Language Arts leader Kristen Cudmore has relocated from Vancouver to Toronto, and now her project is back with a new album, Wonderkind. The album is out this fall, and you can check out a video for the title track now.

The single finds Language Arts staying true to their folk fusion sound, as quirky vocals intermingle with dramatically swelling strings and pared down choruses. The accompanying video shows a fuzzy creature hanging out in the forest with friendly looking mushrooms and strumming a small instrument made from a popsicle stick and a bottle cap. The creature eventually moves to the city to busk before becoming a prisoner of a mysterious cigar smoker, and ultimately plotting a daring mistake.

It was directed by Monocol in Ballard, WA.
