Elizabeth Powell's Land of Talk project returned to the live stage last year, performing new songs and hinting at more new material to come — and it's finally here.
Land of Talk will release a new album titled Life After Youth, marking the band's first full-length since 2010's Cloak and Cipher. It's due out on May 19 via Dine Alone Records in Canada and Saddle Creek everywhere else.
A press release notes that the new record hears the group drawing on influences like classical, ambient and Japanese tonkori music — the latter whose meditative qualities proved therapeutic to Powell's father during a recent recovery.
"These are the songs that got her through the tough times," a press release reads. "And now, they can do the same for you."
Ahead of the LP's arrival, Powell and her band have teased fans with a brand new track titled "Inner Lover."
According to Powell, the song is a declaration of self-determination, self-love, self-ownership. "It's about the freedom to live, and love as one chooses," she said in a statement.
Unexpected rhythms, echoing vocals and atmospheric instrumentation swirl together on the hypnotic offering, and you can fall under its spell down below.
You'll also find a slew of upcoming tour dates from the band, including Canadian stops in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. See the full tour details below.
