LAL Return with 'Find Safety'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 25, 2016

It's been a while since Rosina Kazi and Nicholas Murray have offered up any new music from their LAL project, but the Toronto duo are set to deliver their first full-length in more than eight years this spring. Titled Find Safety, you can comfortably pop the collection into your ears on April 29 via Coax Records.

While the group delivered a self-titled set in 2012, a press release describes Find Safety as the proper follow-up to 2008's genre-hopping Deportation. Find Safety likewise flirts with a few different styles, listing Pete Rock, Fela Kuti and Massive Attack as inspiration. Mixing a message with the musicality, it's being pushed as a "compellingly danceable and provocative political statement."

Kazi and Murray spent three years putting together their latest full-length, with the act having previously teased the set in 2014 with a video for "Tiny Mirrors." It's added that the album comes informed by concerts held at their community "safe space" in Toronto, and reflects queer and BIPOC issues and social justice causes.

Below, you'll find a stream of the album's "Stand in My Way," courtesy of Quick Before It Melts. You'll also find some cross-country dates taking place between April and June below as well.
