Lady Gaga has been incredibly open with her fans about her struggle with PTSD, and now she's opened up about a different health issue. The pop star is currently gracing the cover of Arthritis magazine, accompanied by the headline: "Hip pain can't stop me" — a far cry from former appearances splashing across the front publications like Vogue, Vanity Fair and Cosmopolitan.
The magazine cover and photos of the inner spread surfaced on Twitter yesterday (March 29), and you can check them out below.
The article has yet to surface online, but Gaga's history of hip-related problems is no secret. Following a show in Montreal in February 2013, she was forced to cancel a slew of dates on her "Born This Way Tour" due to a serious hip injury.
"My injury was actually a lot worse than just a labral tear," she told Women's Wear Daily in 2013. "I had broken my hip. Nobody knew, and I haven't even told the fans yet. But when we got all the MRIs finished before I went to surgery there were giant craters, a hole in my hip the size of a quarter, and the cartilage was just hanging out the other side of my hip. I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage. The surgeon told me that if I had done another show I might have needed a full hip replacement. I would have been out at least a year, maybe longer."
The singer has since documented her battle with chronic pain on Instagram, thanking the team of professionals administering treatment and sharing some of her own at-home remedies for relief.
The spring issue of Arthritis is labelled as a free take-home copy, and medically-conscious Little Monsters can subscribe to the publication via Healthmonitor.com.
As previously reported, Lady Gaga will step up to fill Beyoncé's Coachella void next month. She'll headline the California festival on April 15 and 22. Then, later this year, she'll embark on the "Joanne World Tour," making a handful of stops in Canada.
