Along with updating us on the decidedly disturbing family lives of the inky Cuyler clan, the new season of Adult Swim cartoon Squidbillies is offering up a bunch of versions of its downtrodden and rootsy theme song. Following last week's full-band extravaganza with Father John Misty, Philly folk guy Kurt Vile has revealed a modest version of his own.
Following the template, Vile affixed a country drawl onto those now-familiar lines about the death of dreams and praying for the sun to explode. His finger-picked version is crystalline, despite the content being about as murky as a bucket full of masticated chaw.
You can hear Vile's Squidbillies take below, along with a behind-the-scenes look at how he put it together.
