Spawned from members of Interstllr and Islands, Koko Blue will be releasing their debut album next week. Though it doesn't arrive until June 11, curious listeners can hear Crosses and Planks in its entirety right now.

The duo, consisting of Interstllr singer Koko Bonaparte and Evan Gordon of Islands and the Magic, hail from Guelph, ON, but are currently based in New York City. A press release explains that the "musical project is a tribute to Jim Guthrie's idea that 'Home is where the rock is.'"

The new album was recorded in an apartment in Toronto's Parkdale neighbourhood, and the songs "were taped straight through, no cutting and pasting, no punching in, no click" to capture each one's "soul."

Packed with lo-fi indie rock, inspired by the likes of Will Oldham, Sebadoh and Lou Reed, Crosses and Planks hits shelves on Tuesday, but you can give it a listen below, where you'll also find a few Ontario dates.

Tour dates:

6/6 Toronto, ON - Holy Oak
6/7 Guelph, ON - Silence
6/8 Hamilton, ON - The Brain
