Knocked Out Loaded

EP 7

BY Scott IngramPublished Oct 1, 2000

I wouldn't call them Blonde Redhead Jr., but I can't help but notice the similarities between the two bands: New York based, a Japanese female member, breathy female vocals and school of Sonic Youth atonal guitars. Knocked Out Loaded's music more than stands on its own merits though. The interesting sampled loops and solid drumming make a wonderful canvas upon which the trio artfully splashes a mixture of sporadic and melodic guitar sounds. I couldn't help but be reminded of Blonde Redhead but it basically boils down to "so what?" - this is a very good EP.
