Klaxons, Voxtrot, the Rapture Offer Exclusive Tracks for Free Yr Radio Comp

BY Jess ZalamedaPublished Oct 2, 2007

A collection of notable American indie rock bands are featured on a new CD compilation in support of commercial free radio in the US. Free Yr Radio will be in stores on October 10, and will feature live tracks and b-sides from Klaxons, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Annuals, Rogue Wave, Dntel, the Long Winters, the Ponys, the Rapture and Voxtrot, among others. The bands all took part in the "Free Yr Radio" concert series held earlier this year at South By Southwest in Austin, TX, as well as dates in Chicago, Raleigh-Durham, Lawrence, Houston, Seattle, Brooklyn and Los Angeles. All profits from sales of the CD - ironically funded by corporate sponsorship - will be divided among the non-commercial radio stations that took part in the campaign, including WLUW in Chicago, WERS in Boston, WBWC in Cleveland, KGNU in Boulder, CO, and KXLU in Los Angeles.

The tracklisting is:

Klaxons - 'Golden Skans' (Erol Alkan's Ekstra Spektral Edit)
The Ponys - 'Hara Kiri' (Live)
Voxtrot - 'Steven' (Live)
The Long Winters - 'Commander Thinks Aloud' (Live)
