Klaxons

"Gravity’s Rainbow”

BY Cam LindsayPublished Jun 1, 2006

Though descriptions of the band often break the "ten sub-genre limit in one sentence rule,” London’s Klaxons cut their teeth on every hipster trend that has passed by this millennium. This first single is a dizzying spin of disco bass lines and skittering drums, with electrified angular riffs and helium-filled vocals fighting off a wimpy synth trying to be heard. The video features the chest-shaved band high on MDMA surrounded by a rainbow of fluorescents, a flying parrot and naked babies — which in hindsight is a perfect description of their music too.
