Kitty Announces 'Impatiens' EP, Premieres New Song

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 7, 2014

It's been a couple months since we heard new music from Kitty, but the New York-based rapper has announced that she will be serving up a full EP's worth of material next week through her Bandcamp .

Set to arrive May 13, the MC's Impatiens is made up of five songs that Kitty explained have been hanging around since the summer of 2013. Since she's digging up the songs again, Kitty noted that the EP's title comes from a flower that blooms in summer, shrivels at first frost, and then reappears the following sunny season. Kitty notes that they are "bitter and toxic and beautiful in bloom."

"These are the impatiens that grew in me last summer and I can't believe I felt any of this dumb shit and I REALLY can't believe I bothered writing all of them down (I was bitter and I'm still toxic)," she wrote of her own tracks, adding, "but they were beautiful in bloom, so once they shriveled into nothing I turned them into 5 silly songs 4 u."

Kitty's bars are supported throughout the set with production work from the likes of Friendly Ghost, Chrome Sparks, Djemba Djemba and more. Opener "Emobounce," which flaunts old-school drum machine hits, an echoing snap beat, faux-harp flutters and Kitty's hand-holding, relationship-geared words, can be streamed down below.

Impatiens:
