Kings of Leon

'Mechanical Bull' (promo video starring Danny DeVito & Glenn Howerton)

Kings of Leon had Portlandia's Fred Armisen direct a recent webcast concert and have now tapped the cast of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia for a promo behind the Mechanical Bull LP.

The clip finds the show's Danny DeVito and Glenn Howerton just about to enjoy their hoagie time, but Howerton stalls the sandwich sit-down after getting call from the brothers Followill to direct a promo video. The actor spirals into an inspired mania that has him prepping spec scripts, setting up shoots, choking extras, and borrowing an ass load of money from fellow show co-star Charlie Day.

The results are a bit artsy-fartsy, mixing aging skate-rat culture with A Streetcar Named Desire, and you can see the weirdo results down below. Interestingly, it doesn't appear as if any new music from Kings of Leon made it into the final cut. Spoiler, though: the hoagies are eventually eaten.

Mechanical Bull hits stores September 24 via RCA.
