Gloomed-out neo-folk figure King Dude (a.k.a. T.J. Cowgill) will be on a tear this spring, having announced that on top of his upcoming North American tour with Ghost B.C., he has another collaborative 7-inch with Chelsea Wolfe and a solo LP titled Fear on the way.
A press release explains that the Sing More Songs Together... 7-inch arrives March 24 through Cowgill's own Not Just Religious Music. The follow-up to Cowgill and Wolfe's 2013 single Sing Songs Together features two new tunes, with the Cowgill-penned "Be Free" taking the A-side. You can stream the track, a doomed love duet appealing to prime-period Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra, down below.
The B-side will feature the Wolfe-written "Bed on Fire," which finds Cowgill and Six Organs of Admittance's Ben Chisholm supporting the songwriter's "haunting vocals and guitar work."
The vinyl single will be followed up with the release of King Dude's fourth full-length solo release, Fear. The LP sees release April 4, also through Not Just Religious Music, and was produced by Bill Rieflin (Ministry, Swans, Pigface). While sound samples have yet to arrive for the set, which follows 2012's Burning Daylight, Cowgill apparently made it his business to make it as harrowing as possible.
"When I set out to write the follow-up record to my last record Burning Daylight I hadn't quite realized what I was going to do for its themes and overall concept. Although I had one crystal clear intention — to make the most horrifying music I could," he said in a statement, adding, "So with that in mind I began to write what would later become Fear."
You'll find the tracklisting info for both releases down below.
King Dude's trip with spooky European rock troupe Ghost B.C., meanwhile, kicks off April 17 at Toronto's Phoenix Theatre. You'll find the rest of the show details over here.
