Yukon singer-songwriter Kim Beggs recently released her latest studio album Said Little Sparrow, and she's treated a track from that record to a brand new video. Just in time for Halloween, the clip for "Vampire Love Song" is here.
The track serves as the opening number on the new record, showcasing the singer-songwriter's rootsy sound. Despite the song's warmth, the video takes Beggs into a snow-covered forest. Spooky shots of a full moon, frosty trees, tombstones and a mysterious cloaked figure get intertwined with footage of Beggs performing in a church and wedding day flashbacks.
"'Vampire Love Song' is the story of old world, unrequited love fused with the stale and painful tradition of forced, loveless marriages," Beggs tells Exclaim!
She goes on to explain that the Jessica Hall-directed clip was shot around her hometown of Whitehorse — including spots along the waterfront where Beggs wrote her very first song 16 years ago.
