Killswitch Engage Guitarist Explains the Harsh Realities of Winning 'The Price Is Right'

Winning The Price Is Right may not be all it's cracked up to be. Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz has revealed he will likely sell most of the prizes from his recent win, including a pair of vehicles, to avoid serious taxation.

Speaking on Hatebreed singer Jamey Jasta's The Jasta Show, Dutkiewicz explained that while he left the game show with prizes totalling $51,832 US, he's also expected to pay taxes on all of his winnings. Earnings from lotteries and game shows are often taxed at a rate of 30 per cent, meaning Dutkiewicz would pay upwards of $15,000 in tax.

"I gotta sell them, the taxes are outrageous," Dutkiewicz said. "It's like when you win the lottery, the government looks at it like 'we need half your income.'"

As of the airing of The Jasta Show, the guitarist has yet to receive any of his prizes, so he has yet to make his final decision. But he did say that both vehicles would likely be sold.

You can hear him discuss the potential tax woes — as well as describe the experience of being on the program, which left him "shaking with excitement" once he was brought out for his first bid — down below.
