Autoxie J-2020

This reflective Montreal-based trio are quite deceptive. Just when one begins to think that they are locked in one groove for what probably would be the rest of the track, the tectonic plates of music and mood shift from serene noodling to an intense and medium-coarse neural jam of frenetic guitar drills, reminiscent of the likes of one Caspar Brotzmann. Recorded live for a theatrical production entitled Vide D'Ange, the trio take one through a structure that is loose, for the most part, making this sound like it is about music that is a work in progress. Jazzy and ominous riffs tingle and repeat, and it builds and orgasmically releases in the most electrifying ways. Not a bad way to go, if you ask me.
