Kid Cudi

"Immortal"

While Kid Cudi announced his Indicud LP finally arrives April 23, the details surrounding the set are still relatively vague. While a tracklisting has yet to pop up, the rapper/singer leaked a new track called "Immortal" on Twitter last night (February 28).

"Ok, so heres what I did. I took one of my favorite bands MGMT's song 'Congratulations,' put it in reverse, sped it up, and produced over it, " he wrote.

The song sounds just as he describes, with the unnatural, backwards-masked melody featuring a few real-time synth stabs and a one-string guitar solo. Cudi starts off the song singing self-deprecating lines ("Spent the last month feeling bad 'bout myself / I couldn't speak anything of pure hope"), which makes his humbly sung hook "Tonight I feel Immortal" sound like he's either pulled a 180, or he's painfully in denial.
