Kid Commando

Holy Kid Commando

BY Melissa WheelerPublished Mar 1, 2004

Opening with stomping guitars and militant drums and the direct statement "I’m afraid of dancing,” Kid Commando’s band members are in control. Or are they? The ragged guitar, erratic drum patterns and gangly, hostile vocals (not the lyrics) simultaneously boost and undermine the Swedish trio’s stability. Not to fret, as the fun is in seeing how close they can push the boundaries with their loud and noisy crooked rock before falling apart like a game of Jenga. Much of the album sounds like an adult’s musical recreation of a kids tantrum, so it’s likely their live show would get really sweaty really fast.
