Kice of Course

New Experience

BY Dalia CohenPublished Sep 1, 2005

One of those albums that could easily be slept on with phat, lazy beats from Mr. Len and Kice spittin' like it ain't nothin', New Experience is a chilled, mellow album focussing more on lyrics than bass heavy beats. Kice is no newcomer to the rap game, which is apparent in his lyrical content and flow. Back in the day, Kice held it down for a month straight on DJ Big Dennis’ show "Home Jams,” which was structured for unsigned artists to be heard on NYC's Hot 97. Since then he's released Only A Few Understand and was recognised by Mr. Len of Company Flow and signed to his label, Smack Records. His latest release, New Experience, features his laidback style as he raps about growing up poor, respecting women, going to school, reading, his mom, competition and God. He has no trouble going back and forth between street grit and conscious lyrics. Peep the tracks "Miracles," "Competition" and "Momma's Groove" to hear where the "David Blaine of hip-hop" is coming from.
