Kesha Claims She Was Offered "Freedom" from Contract in Exchange for a Public Apology

Over the weekend, Kesha revealed further insight into her ongoing battle against Sony to end her working relationship with Dr. Luke — a producer she has accused of sexual, physical and emotional abuse.

A court ruling in February denied the singer an injunction against her contract with  Dr. Luke's Kemosabe label, though parent company Sony insisted that Kesha could continue to record music without his involvement. At the time, Kesha's legal team deemed this an "illusory promise" and accused Sony of siding with the producer. Now, the pop star has spoken out against the label once again.

In an Instagram post yesterday (April 3), she says that she was offered recording "freedom" in exchange for issuing a public apology and denying the rape allegations against Dr. Luke. Standing by her accusations, she states: "I will not take back the truth. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again."

Dr. Luke's camp has since issued a response through Rolling Stone. It reads:

The Court repeatedly stated Kesha is already free to record without Dr. Luke, and that she had not presented any facts supporting her claims.  That's because all the evidence - including Kesha's own videotaped sworn testimony - show her allegations are false. The only thing Kesha is not free to do is to continue to lie about Dr. Luke through publicity stunts and outrageous smears, ignoring the fact that by her own free will she went to work and entered into new contracts with Dr. Luke years after this 'incident' supposedly happened. Her goal all along has been solely personal enrichment by seeking to break contracts that brought her success and millions so she can enter into more lucrative ones.  We look forward to our day in court holding Kesha accountable for her lies.

At the time of February's court ruling, Sony's legal representation said: "Our interest is in her success. Our interest is in Dr. Luke's success. They are not in the least bit mutually exclusive."

Kesha's legal team has since filed the paperwork to appeal the judge's ruling, and is reportedly in talks to hire lawyer Daniel Petrocelli, who successfully represented Ronald Goldman's family in a wrongful death civil suit against O.J. Simpson.
