Compton, CA rhymer Kendrick Lamar impressed critics and fans alike with his 2011 debut Section.80, and now he's revealed when we can expect the follow-up.

Titled Good Kid in a Mad City, the album is slated to drop on October 2. It will be Lamar's first effort for a major label, as he's teamed up with Interscope and Dr. Dre's Aftermath Music for the release.

The fellow Compton rappers unveiled their collaborative track "The Recipe" a while back, which serves as the album's lead single. Give it a listen below as we await further details for Good Kid in a Mad City.

UPDATE: Apparently, this report may be a bit premature, as Lamar has now tweeted, "Let me personally announce the album date and 'CORRECT' title. Then its official." So if we're reading that correctly, the album isn't called Good Kid in a Mad City after all, and that release date is once again up in the air.

UPDATE 2: On Tuesday (June 26), Lamar once again took to Twitter and clarified that the album will be called good kid, m.A.A.d city, with the release date still set for October 2.
