Kendrick Lamar

"These Walls" (live on 'Ellen')

Kendrick Lamar hasn't really been hitting the talk show circuit to prop up his astonishing To Pimp a Butterfly LP, but that all changed today (May 27) when the Compton rapper appeared on Ellen to perform the insightful "These Walls."

K-dot stood on an illuminated flooring set up that displayed video footage of his own visage, as well as several geometric patterns that bounced in time to the lightly funked arrangement. As he rapped about the various walls that keep us contained, from the inside of a womb to those of a prison cell, the set also showed off a nearby pair of dancers spinning around to the beat. Elsewhere, a painter tried to capture all of the magic on his canvas.

You'll find the arty daytime TV performance, as well as a brief interview Ellen DeGeneres conducted with Lamar, down below.
