Kendrick Lamar

"Shake It Off" (Taylor Swift freestyle)

It's been a weird time for music royalty this week. First, pop queen Taylor Swift went viral via a video clip of her lip-synching along to Kendrick Lamar's "Backseat Freestyle," and now the King of Compton has paid her back in kind with an on-air freestyle of "Shake It Off."

Captured at Dallas station K104, the freestyle was a request made during the Dede in the Morning program, and Lamar accepted. "I gotta go hard," he laughs ahead of putting his bars atop the 1989 single.

Noting up front above the glossy beat that "I can do rhythm hip-hop, I can do pop," Lamar's off-the-top-of-his-head wordplay also talks up the power of positive thinking and how host Dede think he's cute.

You can check out the stream-of-conscious set of bars down below.

This follows a similar audio clip that surfaced yesterday (November 4) where Kendrick sang the hook to "Shake It Off." You can check that out below as well.
