It's Black Friday, meaning Christmas is indeed right around the corner. And here to further remind us is Vancouver's Kellarissa, who's just delivered a new holiday release.
Following 2018's Ocean Electro, the record is called We're Mest — a playful take on Tammy Faye's 1979 Christmas album We're Blest. Rather amazingly, Kellarissa has even recreated Faye's super cheesed-out album art.
Despite that nod, Kellarissa's five-track record is made up of five holiday originals "centred on themes such as family, Finnish traditions and the weather." The closing track, "Winter Stars," is also a poem by American poet Sara Teasdale.
As you'll hear, Kellarissa has traded her usual synths and drum machines for accordion, some spare drum bits and MIDI strings. You can stream all of We're Mest for yourself down below.
As previously reported, Kellarissa will be playing the Mint Records Ridiculously Early Xmas Party on Saturday at Vancouver's Red Gate. Also on the bill are Tough Age, Dumb, Necking, Supermoon and Jay Arner. Learn more here.
