Kelis Takes 'Food' on North American Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 14, 2014

Kelis is set to serve up the goods onstage later this spring in support of her upcoming Food album, with a handful of North American tour dates now on the horizon.

A press statement bills the seven-show tour as Kelis' "first national run in over four years," but the R&B singer will also be making her way up into Canada for a show at Toronto's Danforth Music Hall on June 11. The trip will have the "Jerk Ribs" vocalist travelling with a full band. For a taste of what to expect from the Food live experience, you can check out a recent performance of the LP's "Friday Fish Fry" at KCRW's Apogee Studios in Los Angeles down beneath the tour dates.

As previously reported, Food arrives April 22 through Kelis' new label home Ninja Tune. The album was tracked with TV on the Radio's David Sitek at his L.A. home and promises a soul- and funk-styled song cycle that's "rootsy without ever being self-consciously retro."
