Kelis Signs to Ninja Tune for Dave Sitek-produced Album

We've heard whisperings about a new Kelis material coming down the pipeline for a while now, but the R&B singer has now confirmed an LP, called Food, will be served up next spring through new label home Ninja Tune.

Details are still developing behind the record, her first full-length since 2010's Flesh Tone, but Ninja Tune is set to put it in stores April 28.

As previously reported, the "Milkshake" maker had been working in the studio with producer Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio, who produced all of Food, and was previously on tap to deliver two LPs for his Federal Prism. It's unclear at present if those releases have amalgamated into Food, which is described in a press release as "a soul record that's as raw and alternative as it is classic."

"This is the album I've wanted to make for a long time and I want the team around me to be as excited and energetic about it as I am," Kelis said in a statement. "I'm also very happy to be working with some of the most creative people in the industry."

Neither a tracklisting nor sound samples from the set have been unveiled for Food, but you can stream the singer's recent "Call On Me" single down below.
