Kele Confirms That He's Still a Member of Bloc Party, Group Working on New LP

It looks like we can now put to rest all that confusing speculation about whether frontman Kele Okereke is still in Bloc Party, or if his bandmates are auditioning for a new singer. In a new interview, Kele has confirmed that he is still a member of the group and that they are working on a new album.

He told BBC Radio 1 [via Contactmusic], "We're making a record. We're making our fourth record. We've recorded two songs and we've demoed, I think, 17."

He noted that the new music recaptures the spirit of the group's past work. "I'm certainly very impressed. It's nice to feel like the music that we're making is the sound of us all in the room again, because we haven't really done that in a while," he noted. "I think we all felt whatever energy was there in the beginning was still there and that's the reason to make a record again."

Assuming that this new album comes to fruition, it will be the band's fourth album overall, and their first since 2008's Intimacy. Their official website is still displaying that Simpsons-style image of the bandmates (above) along with the message "Bloc Party is still Bloc Party," just to make sure that none of those pesky breakup rumours pop up again.
