Following last year's Basement Mold EP, Vancouver hardcore hyrbidists Keep Tidy are back with another punchy outing called Buds Buds. The new seven-song set was released on tape yesterday (June 19) by Pizza Pop Cassettes, but you can stream the whole thing over on the group's Bandcamp page or down below.
Both of the band's tapes were recorded in their jam space, but Buds Buds comes across glossier and better produced without sacrificing Keep Tidy's punky punch. The act still blast out the kind of speedy '80s hardcore that suggests years of listening to Dischord's Flex Your Head comp on repeat, while "Fuck It (We're Doing It Live)" offers up a corrosive, Motor City stomp.
Shmoo Richie, meanwhile, delivers a diverse blend of bluesy, vibrato-heavy wails and snarky shouts on "You're Awesome" that separate the unit from acts content with just screaming at the top of their lungs.
