Kate Nash Gets Festive with New Christmas EP

With less than a month left until Christmas, we can expect a steady flow of holiday-themed releases over the coming weeks, and British genre-dabbler Kate Nash is helping us get in the seasonal spirit with her own festive EP. Entitled Have Faith with Kate Nash This Christmas, it arrives in Canada on December 10 through Dine Alone Records.

The short collection finds Nash joined by London, UK-based punk trio the Tuts, and this backing band takes sole credit for the track "Christmas Is in the Air." All told, the five songs range from punchy, pissed-off punk to traditional holiday balladry.

Nash said in a statement, "I just love Christmas and the old fashioned tradition of writing original material for it. I sing 'Auld Lang Syne' every New Year's and I love it so much, I really like the sensation of a new year starting. I chose 'Silent Night' because my mum always plays hymns around the house and it's such a beautiful traditional song."

Below, stream the closing cut "Faith," which pairs sparse guitar strums with swaths of vocal harmonies. Samples of the rest of the tracks are available from iTunes. The EP is already out in the U.S., but Canadians can't purchase it until next week.

In other news, Nash will be co-writing a Broadway musical based on her songs. A press release describes it like this: "Entitled Only Gold, the production will include tracks from across her career to tell the story of a maharaja in 1920s Paris."
