Kate Nash

My Best Friend is You

BY Jessica LewisPublished May 18, 2010

When Nash's first single, "I Just Love You More," was released, it was that kick-ass song that could have sparked a roaring comeback, but the rest of the album doesn't compare. It should have been Nash, more mature and ready to rock and sock anyone who came into her path, but she still falls back on that cutesy, tongue-in-cheek wit that sold her first album, Made of Bricks. That album did well because it harnessed that characteristic. My Best Friend is You is all over the place: Nash screaming, talking over an opera singer, singing cutely; it doesn't know what to latch onto. Perhaps Nash wanted to do so much on this album that it became overwhelming. If anything, the title states what you'll get: a diary-like hour of emotions.
