KASHKA

"Float Away" (video)

Toronto singer-songwriter Kat Burns formerly fronted folk outfit Forest City Lovers, but for the past few years, she's been releasing solo "folkpoptronica" music under the moniker KASHKA. Her latest EP, Relax, arrived earlier this year, and now "Float Away" from that record has been given the visual treatment.

The album aims to impart the feeling of "flying while just daydreaming" on its listeners, and as the title implies, "Float Away" does exactly that.

The accompanying clip was written and directed by Burns herself, and shot in Prince Edward County, ON. It stars newcomer Ember Meta as the child protagonist and her father, Greg Landucci as the manifestation of her imagination.

The video captures the youngster traipsing through scenic farmland, dreaming and dancing as a cape-wearing dinosaur keeps her company.

Later today, you can head over here to purchase a ticket and tune into a livestream of a KASHKA show. Right now, though, watch the video for "Float Away" below.
