Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O has teamed up with U.S. restaurant chain Chipotle, but it's to promote something more important than a delicious burrito. As part of the "Abandoned" project, whose goal is to "raise awareness about the economic hardship family farmers face in the increasingly industrialized American agriculture system," the singer has contributed a cover of '70s country tune "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys." Though originally recorded by Ed Bruce in 1975, the tearjerker was popularized by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings in 1978.

O's spectral version mostly features no more than spare piano hits and her plaintive, softened coo, though ambient washes and drums that sound like they were recorded way off in the distance rumble in by song's end. The tune is complemented by David Altobelli's video clip, which finds a couple of kids rustling around in an old house, donning bed sheets like ghosts as they navigate the abandoned structure.

You can check the clip out below.

Proceeds will go to the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation and Farm Aid, who both help protect farmers and keep them on their land.
