Kardinal Offishall & Clinton Sparks

"Do the Right Thing - The Mixtape"

BY Cam LindsayPublished Jul 13, 2007

While we wait for Kardinal Offishall to follow up 2005's long-awaited Fire & Glory (currently titled Not For Sale), he's been busy looking into the past with producer Clinton Sparks. Inspired by the inspirational 1989 Spike Lee joint Do the Right Thing, Kardi's new mix-tape of the same name celebrates the life of hip-hop, borrowing some of Lee's original jazz score and film samples to anchor his own golden verses. Akon, who assisted Kardi in getting his new deal with Konvict Muzik, drops by for the blazin' new single "Graveyard Shift," while Daytona 500 and Little Brother also pitch in their talents. Best of all though is the spot on cover art the pair designed to ensure this homage was picture perfect.
