Published Oct 31, 2013Kanye West fans looking for Yeezus to rise tonight (October 31) for his rescheduled Vancouver appearance at Rogers Arena are in for a rude awakening, as the rapper has once again postponed his appearance.
Staff at Rogers Arena staff have confirmed with Vancouver newspaper the Province that tonight's show has been called off. The venue was apparently contacted by promoters this morning to cancel tonight's performance.
UPDATE: Shedding more light on the postponement, Kanye's team has released the following statement, which reveals that several dates, including shows in Denver (November 3) and Minneapolis (November 5), are now being postponed due to an accident that damaged some of Kanye's stage gear.
The statement reads:
Yesterday, on the road to Vancouver, a truck carrying The Yeezus Tour's custom-made video truss and 60-ft circular LED screen was in an accident that damaged the gear beyond repair.
This gear is central to the staging of The Yeezus Tour, and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team at DONDA.
As a result of this event, it is impossible to put on the show and The Yeezus Tour will be postponed until these essential pieces can be reengineered and refabricated.
Kanye West will not compromise on bringing the show, as it was originally envisioned and designed, to his fans.
The Vancouver, Denver and Minneapolis dates have been postponed. Further details on the affected tour dates will be announced shortly.
The concert was intended to be a make-up date for Yeezy's originally scheduled October 20 concert date with Kendrick Lamar. Plans for another make-up date have yet to be confirmed.
In addition to being the second postponement for Vancouver, West announced earlier this week that he had postponed his November 2 date in Anaheim, CA, to December 13. The reason for that push had been chalked up to "production logistics" with rigging up the grand-scale stage set-up in time.
