Published Dec 14, 2014Though we've yet to hear Kanye West's long-promised Yeezus follow-up, the rapper-producer has had a constant slew of projects on the go. Among them, it appears, is a new feature-length film.
Some leaked emails from Sony Pictures suggest that Kanye has been working on a feature-length film that will serve as "both a cinematic and technological innovation."
The emails were obtained by The Daily Beast [via Consequence of Sound], and were written by West's Elon Rutberg, who was pitching a mysterious project to Sony executive Amy Pascal.
Another excerpt from the emails suggested it would be similar to Kanye West's multi-screen film that aired at Cannes in 2012:
I supervise all of Kanye's film and media projects, and we have a major film project coming up that involves both cinematic and technological innovation, so I naturally thought Sony and wanted to reach out. We premiered a multi-screen cinema experience to great response at Cannes 2012, and are looking to take the storytelling to the next level with a feature length film, shot for an immersive cinema experience.
In addition, a separate email in the batch of leaks suggested that Kanye West would also be appearing in a new Christmas film from Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in which West would re-enact the iconic Big piano scene at FAO Schwartz.
Stay tuned for more information on Kanye West's upcoming film projects as it becomes available.
