Kandle Officially Releases Self-Titled EP, Readies Canadian Tour Dates

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 15, 2012

Last year, Victoria-bred singer-songwriter Kandle Osborne delivered a self-titled six-song EP online, but the mini-effort will get a proper release later this month when it gets issued on CD by Mercy, Happy Life Records, which will give the record a physical release on May 29.

The EP was produced by Kandle's dad, 54-40's Neil Osborne, and is described as an "icy cool debut" from the former Blue Violets member that takes influence from Bukka White, Skip James, Mazzy Star and Brian Jonestown Massacre.

You can stream the record, which features a swing-style cover of the Rolling Stones' "Playing with Fire" and tremolo-inflected guitar work from Broken Social Scene player Sam Goldberg, below. Also, at the bottom of the page, you can download the EP track "Small" for the price of an email address.

The now Montreal-based Kandle will be heading out for some European dates, as well as a few stops around Ontario and Quebec, throughout the spring and summer months. You can see the schedule down below.
